ENCORE SHIPS GROOVERIDER: SLOT CAR THUNDER
First console slot car racing game that offers addictive gameplay and value pricing ships to retailers
Los Angeles, CA - September 25, 2003 - Encore, a majority-owned subsidiary of Navarre Corporation (NASDAQ: NAVR), today announced that Grooverider: Slot Car Thunder for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and Nintendo GameCube has begun shipping to retailers. This completely new game brings the nostalgia and excitement of slot car racing to consoles for the first time. Designed for ages eight to adult, it retails for approximately $20 and carries an "Everyone" rating.
Said Encore CEO Michael Bell, "Gamers of all ages will have fun with this addictive title at such an attractive price. It's so easy to pick up and play."
Grooverider: Slot Car Thunder offers plenty of action with 3 difficulty levels and 20 ultra-fast tracks in each of five race locations, including a bedroom, dining room and roof garden. As players progress through the game, players can unlock 20 different race cars varying in style from 1920's British race cars to American stock cars and Formula X Indy style cars.
Multiple race modes and speedways with 360-degree loops, booby traps and surprises keep gamers interested and playing for hours. In single player mode, gamers can play arcade or championship. They can also unlock four bonus races, and create custom championships using the tracks that have been unlocked. In multi-player mode, up to four players can battle it out, competing for first place. To win, players collect and use power-ups including a blaster, booster, shield, track mines, and obstacle jumping - adding diversity to the mix and ensuring that no two races will be the same.
