Well, Chicken Little is a first for Disney, it’s the first Computer Graphics movie made entirely by Disney. The most successful movies for Disney recently have been CG movies but all of the movies have been developed by Pixar. But with Pixar ending its relationship with Disney (at least for now); Disney has decided to make their own CG movie. The movie is based upon the children’s tale of Chicken Little saying the sky is falling. However this time in the movie the sky is falling because of an alien invasion and it’s up to Chicken Little and his friends to save the day.
The game on display at E3 2005 was still an early version but still playable. The game is your typical 3D platform title that we’ve seen with so many animated movies turned into a game. You control Chicken Little and jump around the stages gathering items to destroy the enemies. It’s your standard 3D platform title that you’ve probably played a thousand times before which means there wasn’t anything that really makes the game standout. In fact the camera seemed to be the biggest problem with the game since it swings to an angle that made the game almost unplayable. But the game is still early and has several more months of development time before release.
The final version of the game will offer several playable characters, Chicken Little, Fish-Out-of-Water, Runt of the Litter and Abby Mallard. There will be several levels of gameplay that isn’t based on a 3D platform game. One level on display at E3 had Chicken Little flying a spaceship which looked very interesting. The graphics for the game at E3 looked good as well with colorful graphics and a smooth frame rate. We will need to wait until the movie is released to see how the game will compare to the movie in terms of graphic quality. The game will also include some multiplayer levels as well, including a racing mode along with 16 single player levels. Most of the celebrity voice actors will be reprising their roles in the game. Look for the game around the same time the movie is released which is scheduled for a Holiday 2005 release.
